I joined InnerCHANGE in 2016 and am living in Quetzaltenango (Xela), Guatemala. I chose this location and team because of a desire to learn more about Latin culture and learn from local leaders. We are a team who seeks out the most vulnerable in the community and we invite everyone to experience the transforming love of God.

We focus on youth surrounding a central park in our neighborhood, many who are working to help their families make the bare minimum. Many of these kids, who range from 4-19 years old, are at risk for drug/alcohol use, exploitation, abuse, and delinquency. By offering scholarships for school, daily tutoring, bible studies, recreational activities and regular meetings to offer support and guidance to their parents, our team uses a family based, holistic approach.

InnerCHANGE believes in building relationships and putting people before projects, so much of what we do is spend time with those that go unseen to the world around them. I’m blessed to be part of a team and organization that feels called to love and acknowledge the humanity in the marginalized using Christ as our example.
